I Love this stuff! I went to a car show this past Saturday. It had over 100 custom, classic and antique cars. Last year, mine was the only electric car. This year there was an electric Ford Ranger (factory built) too. There were hot muscle cars from every decade… Mustangs, Cameros, a Hemi ‘Cuda, Ferrari, Porsche, BMW, Jaguar and many more. There were cars from 1912 to 2001 represented. The testosterone and exhaust fumes were equally thick in the air.
I had the hood up on the Dualin’7 with a big banner across it that said, “National Electric Drag Racing Association.” Much of the time I was talking to people about my car, but other times I would be sitting behind the car in the shade taking a “break”. It was during the break time that I would watch people go by. A lot of the people at the show were big macho muscle car guys. I would see them walk by and see the banner and kind of smirk or roll their eyes and walk right by not the least bit curious or interested. Some who had a son daughter with them had call their kids away from th Dualin’7 because the kids were fascinated. One guy physically pulled his son away. It was fun to watch. Inevitably, one by one, the macho muscle car guys came back to my car. Perhaps curiosity got the better of them or their kids got them to come back. This is one part I love. You can see it in their faces as their smirks and smugness melt away and turns into respect and new awareness…a paradigm shift…enlightenment. For some guys it’s the workmanship that I put into my car, for others it’s the 0-60 performance and the torque numbers. Whatever it is I’ve just changed another person forever. Another great thing is, I met a lot of new people and had some fun with old friends too. Changin’ minds one person at a time, Rich Brown Dualin’7
