Dang - I've probably been within a few hundred yards of an EV1 and never
even knew it. Skip your first week of classes and go research this ;-)
[kidding!!]

Welcome to Massachusetts... and look out for Boston drivers. Did you
bring your truck with you? Obviously you need to settle in and deal with
being a student, but I hope you succeed in your mission to get an EV
group going on campus. Actually there is a high school senior in NY that
I'd love to have talk to you, but I never got his e-mail (Abe - are you
lurking???)

WPI is within a mile or so of Tony who hosts monthly NE EAA chapter
meetings (and who kindly provides travelers like me with electrons).
40-50 miles to the west is Karen's Pioneer Valley EAA chapter that also
meets monthly, and 40-50 miles to the east is me. And apparently a new
50amp outlet is now halfway between for charging. Near me is Tufts U,
which briefly had an EV club. Last I heard the cars were mothballed...
who knows, they might give 'em to WPI if you formed an active club??
Then again, if you have an EV1 you don't want half-baked scratch-built
contraptions.

And congratulations for taking it in stride when people ask you about
the generator on the wheels and windmill on the roof ideas... even
though folks on this list have assured me it is common behavior, it
still weirds me out when people ask.

Time to do the homework.
