I just had the following letter published
in Software Development magazine (Sep 2002, Vol 10, No 9, p.11).

It was a way to get some more publicity
for EVs and raise awareness but also a direct
response to the comment "Expecting free gasoline
is silly..." in an article which was actually
discussing free software.

FREE JUICE

I was just reading Timewarp (July 2002) and was
struck by a quote from Richard Stallman's letter
("Expecting free gasoline is silly..."). I drive
an electric car (a Ford Th!nk City) and regularly
use public charging stations here in California.
These are "free." Sometimes I pay for parking
if the charger is in a public parking garage,
but most of the time there is no charge.

Well, not free gasoline, but close!
