My 1983 Ranger pickup which I converted to electric in 1995-96 is being retired. The battery pack has deteriorated to the point where it no longer can be depended on for even a 3-mile tour of our neighborhood. Four of the original set of twenty batteries have died and been removed from the series string.
All electric drive components including the transmission with clutch and adapter to fit the electric motor are being removed. I've decided that the components are worth more to me than the complete Ranger pickup. I'm keeping all the electric components except for the exhausted batteries for inclusion in another EV. I'm not selling electric components; please don't ask me to. I haven't lost interest in EVs, but just in my old Ranger. It's time for a new EV adventure! I'm not even close to deciding what my next EV will be. One thing I'm sure about is it will weigh much less. It won't need 1200 pounds of batteries for mediocre performance. It will be light enough to perform well with a 9-inch ADC motor. It will be fun to drive. Tom Shay
