Hello Everyone, You may recall a post to the EV list this past April for "a new set of factory first Optima YTs, a stack of 20". I was the "lucky" one who picked these up for $80 ea and they now reside in my garage.
It turns out that these were not standard production batteries as they were marked as BLEMS because they had red colored tops over a light grey case and therefore could not be sold as standard units. I was told by someone knowledgable about Optima batteries that these were deep discharge Yellow Tops even though they have the red colored top that comes on the Optima starting battery. Well, the sad fact is, these are Red Top starting batteries and are therefore of no use in my EV. The fully charged OCV after rest of 12.8V tipped me off to this. Their 39lb weight leaves no doubt. So, I now have 20 Optima batteries that are for sale as RED TOP STARTING BATTERIES. They are new and still in the shrink wrap. $80ea. Contact me off list if interested or have any prospects.
