    Now you know why I love my ni-cads. Mine are
27+years old and still putting out more than their
ratings.
    The electrolyte is just a conductor, not being
changed chemically in the charge/ discharge cycle. 
    Once you get the right electrolyte ratios, it
won't give you more power.
    Not that picky about overcharging fast except
adding water more often and kept cool at the rates
you'll be doing.
    I charge mine at .8C to 1.5C all the time and bad
timers, operator error overcharge them until some
cells dry 5 times and they still came back.
    BTW I got them free and have many extra cells or
I'd not treat them this way but shows what they will
take.
    By the time the voltage starts falling you have
only about 10/15% cap left.
