My Zivan NG5 is regularly "timing out" in the second phase of charging.
This means it shuts down and sits there beeping until I can get there
and switch it off, then re-start it. When I do this, it will run on
through the finish phase. The problem with this for me, is that I
charge between midnight and 7 am (actually between 2 and 7...) so when I
go to check it at 6 or so when I walk down to get the newspaper it
doesn't have time to finish charge before I have to leave for work.
I am on a TOU meter for charging on E-9 rate(EV charging only), which is
quite restrictive on when it can be used for the lowest price, so the
only real time for me to charge is during the hours that I sleep. I
suppose I could add another set of stop and start switches to my timer,
but I would rather figure out why this is happening. Could it be
because I have so much lead in the car (32 Optima YTs)? Because I am
doing fairly shallow discharges?
Any ideas?
Thanks-
Michael B.
