I have run ~70A DC through a 10-gauge wire with Anderson SB50 connectors on either end for upwards of half an hour. I just tried it for grins once. The wire certainly does get warm, but it wasn't panicky hot. I would rate it as an "attended" run, and if you don't make a habit of it, you probably ain't going to hurt anything (melt stuff or overly oxidize the copper wire).
