This was about 20 years ago as I recall. They used a transformer like you normally find mounted on telephoen poles outside most houses to convert the high tension power line voltage down to 220V and then hooked their charger into that. Another fellow did it a year or two ago using an EV-1. He pre-arranged stops every 60 miles or so to plug in (peoples houses, hotels, resteraunts, etc.)
