Nissan is driven by many things, not the least of which is our desire to
keep the world beautiful for many generations to come. Altra EV, Nissan's
first production electric vehicle available in the United States,
demonstrates Nissan's pioneering commitment to the environment.

Unlike most electric vehicles, the Altra EV uses lithium-ion batteries, the
same power source used in high-end notebook computers and video recorders.
These batteries are lighter and have a much greater energy density than
lead-acid or nickel-metal hydride batteries. Also, lithium-ion batteries,
unlike the others, do not lose capacity if not completely discharged before
recharging. Best of all, the Altra EV has a "real world" range of up to 80
miles per charge, with a top speed of 75 miles per hour. Plus, it combines
the comfort and flexibility of a compact van with the crisp styling of a
sport utility vehicle. It's just right for four people and your cargo.

Currently not available for retail sale.
The Altra I saw was on lease to a state agency. They just had their Rav4
taken back but still have a Honda EV+ and a couple of other EVs as well as
the Altra. It really was great in the fit and finish dept. Lawrence
