              Hi Stephen, Lawrence and All,

Here at Cloud Electric is the Navits, formerly SRE
controllers, 600 amps at 96vdc that accomadates 2 motors stock and many other
safety, acceleration ramps, rpm limits, ect features one may want. And at a
reasonable price.
It's the upgrade for my Freedom EV for those who may want more
power than the Altrax 7245 gives. And lightyrs ahead of a Curtis !!

http://www.cloudelectric.com/category.html?UCIDs=1215204

I think Doug Hartley is using one now to test it out. It seems
to be a good controller for those wanting more starting amps and/or 2 motors
with many programable features, especially for direct drive twin motors of
under 2500lb EV's.

Lawrence Rhodes <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote:
Hell 400 amps at 96vdc is possible just using 48v. Just use two 48v
controllers and motors. I'm going to take my two forklift motors and mount
them on a VW adapter I'll just be using 12 batteries but I'm sure the
performance will be equal to a 144v 1231. LR..........

            Hi All,
Dave has kindly offered his list as a guide to make one for
us if someone want too. I have no idea of how to do such but a very good
resource it seems, especially for people who want to build from scratch.
Of course this has much more than EV stuff as it was made
for all homebuilt cars.
So enjoy and maybe make it or some of it for our OS EV site.

                                        Thanks,
                                                   Jerry Dycus

Feel free to use the list, though I would appreciate
you leaving my name and email attached (though not
necessary, if your group adds to it, I would be more
than happy to include their stuff.

The list you intend to add it to must support HTML for
the Knowledge Base to be navigateable or at least a
place to put files.

I will attach a copy of the latest list, that way you
have the orginal source.

Please keep me informed if it works out correctly.

  Home Built Cars Pointer List

This list was orginally developed as a Knowledge Base for the Homebuilt
Usergroup, it has expanded significantly as I researched small car
construction. As I researched the building of a small car, I found it
desireable to include information from the "human powered" area. The smallest
car is simply a motor powered version of a previously human powered vehicle.

This list is in Netscape bookmark format and may easily be inported into
your existing bookmark file.

Low 14 second run on 1200 amps and 160V... Sweet!

How much does it weigh? Any expectations as to what its
range might be?

Your car has 25 Orbitals, which is the same pack setup I
intend for mine to eventually have. This car would be a very
good datapoint for me to adjust my expectations of range and
performance acordingly. I'll eventually upgrade to a set of
Orbitals, zilla 1k and WarP 9'' after starting out with a
cheap conversion on floodies, and when it is at that
upgraded point I am expecting 14s in the quarter. Your car
will help me figure out just how realistic of a proposal
this is. Mine will be much lighter than yours, as I'm
expecting between 2,400 and 2,600 pounds when it is at that
upgraded stage with 25 Orbitals, Zilla 1k, and a 9" motor...

Glad to see your car got so many responses. I can only
imagine what she'll do with a full 2,000 amps under the
condition you can get traction. Mid 13s? Low 14s is
commendable enough: that's Porsche Boxter S territory.

I'm talking about a Vector charger I bought at Target. It doesn't quite raise
the voltage enough to properly charge a flooded battery, but it's just about
right for a gel.

Now if we're talking more like a Zivan charger that's a world of difference,
that has temperature compensation and a few other smart features. Your
reffering to an off the shelf charger correct?

Mark Grasser <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote:
Battery chargers need to monitor the temperature of the batteries. Because
there are so many in the car they should take a sample temperatue from each
compartment and use this temperature to to set the absorption and float
voltages.

Your comment about smart chargers is way off base, maybe 5 years ago but not
today. Today's chargers are PIC based and all parameters are easily
adjustible. Current levels, Absorption, float and Equalization voltages,
temperature curves and switch to float currents are all able to be set at
precise levels.

Where are these chargers is your question? Give me till the end of February
then write me and ask if it is done yet. I have realized that in order to
complete my EV project I need a charger. IT IS the most important part if
you want your batteries to last.

              Hi Stephen, Lawrence and All,
Here at Cloud Electric is the Navits, formerly SRE controllers, 600 amps at 96vdc that accomadates 2 motors stock and many other safety, acceleration ramps, rpm limits, ect features one may want. And at a reasonable price. It's the upgrade for my Freedom EV for those who may want more power than the Altrax 7245 gives. And lightyrs ahead of a Curtis !! http://www.cloudelectric.com/category.html?UCIDs=1215204 I think Doug Hartley is using one now to test it out. It seems to be a good controller for those wanting more starting amps and/or 2 motors with many programable features, especially for direct drive twin motors of under 2500lb EV's.
Sounds dreamy... data sheet/manual anywhere? Does it *have* to use the "pro-bit" pendant, or is there info on the serial programming interface? My main wantage (enjoy these made-up words of mine? it's a side effect of constant acronym barrage) is for my existing prototype vehicle management computer to be able to read the current operating parameters of the controller. Battey amps, motor volts/amps, PWM ratio, anything else it thinks is important. Not necessary, just desirable.

--- Begin Message --- I'm new here. I've wanted an ev for a long time and have been reading about conversions. I'm willing to give up the range of my ICE, but desire a minimum amount of performance. I'd appreciate hearing recomendations for system components to meet the following requirements.

1. 25 mile round-trip commute - freeway; however short on-ramp with quick acceleration from 35-55 mph needed 2. Travel in-town requires climbing a steep hill (18% incline) at 45 mph - 1/2 mile

I've been using Uve's Electric Vehicle Calculator at http://www.geocities.com/hempev/EVCalculator.html. It seems to indicate that a system with a single dc motor may have a max speed of 25 mph on the hill. Do I need dual motors or an ac motor and a 240 or 360 volt battery pack?
