Anyone know how a Leaf driver can limit the charge to 80% SOC (see below
- besides a timer or unplugging)? Is there a dashboard setting?
So, if a driver wanted to maximize their pack life, they would never
want to go below 20% (a dashboard warning indicator) and never above 80%
SOC (controlled by the on-board charger). This would be a wise
incorporation in the next generation of plugins to maximize pack life
and minimize warranty pack costs.
For older plugins that do not have this future feature, stopping the
charge at 80% SOC should not be that hard to incorporate into an EVSE,
whether it be a home or public one. The driver would plugin and by
default a 80% SOC charge would be provided. Pushing a button would give
a full 100% SOC charge. The EVSE could have a way to set the default
whether 80% or 100 SOC charging.
