Casey ---------------- Hello all, While it's been quiet on the email front, it's been insanely busy in the DSS Automotive program! In 2008, our students won 2nd place in the provincial BCIT / BCAA / FORD Automotive skills competition. In 2009, our students won 1st place. The DSS Automotive program was "best" in the province! This was a 1st in our programs history, an unforgettable moment in time. In 2011 we debuted Canada's only electric drag racing truck setting the only Canadian record to ever be set. Those records are held by the National Electric Drag Racing Association which we are a proud member of. In 2013 we have upped the bar, the DSS Automotive program is proud to present the "World's Most Powerful" Junior Dragster ever to be created. And, yes, it's 100% electric! With 200 horse power and weighing only 375 pounds, this vehicle has the ability to go from 0 to 60 miles per hour in 1.4 seconds! We found out Thursday that our invitation to this years Vancouver International Auto Show at the Vancouver convention center was a go! A huge thank you to John Siedlaczek of the New Car Dealers association for including us in this epic event! http://vancouverinternationalautoshow.com/ As 125,000 people walk by they will get to see the outstanding and unique project based learning that the students in the program have been engaged in.
