================
Dan was an early innovator for the EV community. I remember him about
twenty years ago bringing a large charging station to an EV event at a Las
Vegas casino so we could all plug in. He ran a courier service in Phoenix
using electric vehicles, did a cross country trip by swapping out battery
packs, developed a battery exchange system for a bus, drove the first EV to
compete in the Route 66 Fun Run and participated in driving the Tesla for
part of the Run in 2012, as mentioned in Electrifying Times.

From the GoE3 Tesla 66 Fun Run story:
We met Jim Conkle of Route 66 TV at Saturday night's dinner in Kingman. Then
on Sunday, Dan Parmley, who drove the first EV to complete the rally in 1993
honored us by driving the Tesla from Kingman to Hackberry.
In recent years Dan moved on to other projects related to alternative energy
and often visited Las Vegas to meet with government officials who were
interested in his concepts. It was always nice to hear about what he was
developing at the time, although I could sometimes not understand it. He
will be missed, as a friend and an EV enthusiast.
