I don't think it's that big a deal. Sure, it dampens the EV community's feelings. Negative press will affect some early adopters - those who are interested in an EV but aren't sure if it will be a wise use of their money. However, as the technology improves and enough people have EVs, there will be an avalanche of sales.
Beyond early adopters, people just want to get in a drive a car. Many won't even notice the difference between an electric and gas engine as long as it works well and gets them to and fro. Keep giving people rides. Let them get first hand experience! I agree with Mark. When I attended my local Palo Alto h2 meetings, their members did not hold anything against rechargeable-EVs. And like Lawrence alluded to, Tesla doing so well, there is not much to fret about Tesla being harmed. That newswire is only the beginning of anti-EV forces artificially pitting one against the other. So it isn't what they are saying as much the background forces using the media to stir up emotions in the public. My concern is that again, the public will be not informed of the pros & cons of either, but left confused about both. When that becomes apparent to me is when I am talking to the public at EVents, like the at the up coming annual Silicon Valley Rally. There are plenty of the public that I get to talk/yak-at and hear their thoughts and concerns. In last and previous years, the poor public is so mis-informed. After hearing all the public think they know, I can only hope to touch on a few points, and leave them with a little better understanding and where to go for more info (all without hurting their feelings that most of what they know is wrong). Which reminds me, I should seek out an automaker to bring a h2fcv to the EVent. {brucedp.150m.com} - On Tue, Jun 4, 2013, at 12:52 PM, Mark Abramowitz wrote: > ...
