Hi "LoveMyLEAF" I too have an AVCON charging station that I plan to convert to the new J1772 (AVCON was the old J1772 standard, that is why the wires and signals in the connector are the same, only the mechanical interface changed and the range of pilot signal duty cycle and current supplied has been expanded in the new version of the standard)
I will use the pictorial and very clear explanation from this page: http://www.tzev.com/j1772_avcon_head_connector_conversion.html If you still have questions after reading that, let us know and we can probably help you. Are you familiar with soldering? Else you might want to have someone do that for you, since the soldering is carrying the current. Some EVSE manufacturers are now infamous for damaging Leaf charging inlets, probably because their cable is not properly soldered and the high contact resistance causes heat which can damage the connectors. This is not different from the problem that many conversions had to deal with, where regular extension cords caused their connectors to heat up due to marginal construction. Heat can contribute to early demise of the connectors. So do monitor the temperature of your plug while the car is charging: lay your hand on the plug about 5 min and again 1/2 hour after start of charging and you will know if it stays cool and happy. Hopefully, no board work is needed. I have a EVI DS 100 which I would like to change out to a J1772 connector, for my 2011 Nissan LEAF. Appears similar to the attached but would like to verify a few pinouts. Any help greatly appreciated, and (monetarily compensate if needed). 5 minutes on the phone is likely all it would take. I certainly understand the 2 110v hots and green ground (and I think the Avcon blue line is ALSO the LEAF blue line, but there are some other wires and pins in the hub that I don't know how or what to do with.
