Trailers are just fine but for example in here (Finland) it limits the
allowed top speed of the vehicle. At highway 120 km/h becomes 80km/h for a
standard passenger car.

Surely it increases range with added capacity and low speed but people do
not think that way. I would not mind about pulling the trailer with NEV...
But put trailer behind Model S? One could as well install square shaped
wheels on it. That car screams to be driven with enjoyment.

But please think about the near future advancements in batteries.

85 kWh battery even 5 years ago would have been tough thing to do. Not to
even mention getting it in a car with reasonable costs.

Battery mechanics and anode materials will enable 100-150 kWh packs on
Model S. Very soon. What does that mean then?

That pack survives +20 years in use. During that time it will make a lot of
profits. At least if vehicle users can be made to pay on the usage of the
energy at standard level of cost. Compared to gas prices of course.

If I would be Elon I would try to play the battery doubt out completely.
Say if the paid 40,60,85 kWh pack would need warranty recall. Go and swap
at your local station. 90 sec. :D I believe Jeep owners at the current
recall program would love the concept.

So the user gets 120 kWh pack until his/her own pack is fixed. And one
would not try the capabilities of the new cells? (It would come with
small unnoticeable & unmentioned piece of SW to give the extra 5% kick).

It's one of the most addictive way to increase sales. The hook is in the
flesh and it sticks. Elon just reels in the new battery leaser. That's it.

For years I've been developing a business model where people would pay only
for the driven kilometers for the whole EV with no monthly fee at all. That
is a bit too big cake to bite but if you do not try... it'll never happen.
:) If nothing else it was nice exercise to understand leasing business.
Doable but requires vast amounts of capital.

If one would swap his battery pack at the station it would be very hard to
notice any negative things. These battery sets are so different from AGM's
and Optimas that people have learned to pamper. Do not compare even to Leaf
packs. They were intentionally designed all wrong (chemistry).

Tesla can easily keep building packs and fill the stations with them. Packs
are stored in a cool place underground (lifetime +30 years). What a perfect
way to buffer the power for fast chargers and reduce the net electricity
cost.

I can see many good things arising from the battery swapping possibility.
Try to think out of the box. They are doing so at Tesla.
