Martin, I think the Dutch story is about the same as the Tesla fight to bypass car dealerships with the dealer organisations fighting back to remain the only channel through which you can officially buy a new car. Protectionism and trying to maintain monopoly. Same with the Netherlands where the gas stations were late getting on the bandwagon of installing EVSE, so now those are being installed by others, quite successfully. Suddenly it is seen as threat to the gas station's monopoly. Dinasaurs die slowly...

The Netherlands story confuses me. Surely these EVSEs are going to be put where the existing service areas are (ie next to/nearby the fuel stations)? That way the EVers can make use of all the facilities already there rather than have to provide new ones - and increase the cost of installing the network considerably. If so, why are the existing service areas whinging? They don't make money selling fuel, they make it from selling all that over-priced, lardy-a*$e-inducing junk in their shops. So, more customers = more profit. Am I missing something? MW On 12 Jul 2013, at 19:21, K O wrote: > INERTIA and self interest! does any paradigm go quietly?
