Interesting. An actual sighting, and not just one of the many newswires
I have read on this.
For Smith Frito Lay related newswires in the evdl nabble archive, see

There are FedEx and UPS hubs near me. So, I keep expecting to see one of
their Electric delivery trucks.

I have talked to a local UPS driver about UPS deploying Electric
delivery trucks. He said there wasn't any at his hub, but he had heard
of them being at the San Francisco hub.

As Lawrence had noted that driver said it had less performance, and the
sign in the rear of the truck stated the top speed had been limited to
55 mph, drivers of these trucks will have to have different work metrics
if their pay is going to be on an even playing field with the diesel-ice
drivers. At a previous job, when I talked to a FedEx driver he said
while the company did not state they want drivers to race and tail-gate
on the road as much as they do, they are measured on the amount of time
they take on their route. So, driving crazy-fast is beneficial to them,
while the passenger vehicles they harass, curse them for their dangerous
driving.

Lately though, local FedEx drivers seemed to have toned it down a notch
(they are one less foot from kissing my rear bumper). But driving an
Electric delivery truck does not necessarily mean the vehicle would
'have-to' have less performance

but that the Electric delivery vehicle design could 'allow' management
to set limits on acceleration, and top speed (i.e.: setting it
permanently in long-range mode). With the addition of all new hi-tech
gear inside, it also may mean the drivers are now being measured on how
they drive ( now wouldn't that be a switcheroo ).
