Hi Dan, It depends on how your car is wired, but you should be able to check the DC-DC converter. On my car, the main contactor has to be on to enable the DC-DC. (My DC-DC only runs when the key is on.)
When my aux battery is totally dead, I have to "jump" the system to start the DC-DC. I turn on the key, but with the aux dead, the contactor doesn't activate and the DC-DC doesn't come on. However, when I connect small cables across four of my LiFePO4 cells, to the contactor, it closes, the DC-DC comes alive, and the system will now run fine. I can then remove the cables and drive home. I've had to do this once. I keep cables in the car for this purpose. Figure out what your DC-DC needs to be activated. When active, it should be putting out at least 13V.
