How funny, the very first car I converted was a morris Minor, a 59 4 door, I
was working for Clark fork lifts in Chicago when I got out of the Army, then
the gas crunch hit, the 74 embargo, Clarkh ad a dead lined 5,000 lb fork lift,
I took the motor and contactor panel out and put in a junk Minor they had in
the back lot, Back then there was nothing on doing a conversion. But the fork
lift was a car but it had forks, So I made an adaptor plate, (that actually
worked) . made a coupler, (that actualy worked) , removed the stick shifter
locked it in 3rd, and mounted 6 volt and 12 volt batteries, I dint know you
couldn't mix them LOLOL.. to give it about 120 volts, no charging system, I
changed the contact coils to 12 volts, back then you could do that. The neet
thing was it had field weaking also

Mounted every thing in and to my surprise the damn thing ran !!!. I took it on
the road at lunch time and it did as good as expected the first time out...BUT
!!! I didnt have any brakes....
so as any good electric fork drive does, I threw it into reverse ,I still was
useing the fork lift, forward and reverse lever, it did stop, REAL GOOD LOLOL
hard on U-joints but it did stop.

wow that brings back memories . I drove it for about a year until I moved to
florida and sold it to a friend at Clark before I moved
