I once restored some 25+ year old 6V golf cart batteries simply by
flushing them with water and then filling them to the tops of the
plates with battery acid.
The pair of them I installed (wired in series) in my Ford 841D
tractor lasted for several years.

This guy had some videos on making laundry soap and such. Turns out
he seems to have revived a 12v Stowaway Marine battery. Just look
down his list. I couldn't extract the url. But the battery was
down to 2 v. He cleaned the insides with baking soda water. Then
rinsed with water. Then Alum water. Even over filled and it over
flowed when charged. 13.4 v after 24 hours. It then started a
car. Then measured 13.2. Is this a cure or just a bandaid? Lawrence Rhodes
