Here is an email I sent to the Police & school officials:
Captain Johnson, Superintendent Johnson, Superintendent Brictson & Principal Jackson, I heard about Kaveh Kamooneh's arrest for plugging in while playing tennis. I also drive an electric car. As a musician I go to some areas of San Jose. I am given free parking and charging by such companies as Adobe, the City of San Jose, Intuit etc... I drove to Sonoma State University for a concert and the staff went out of their way to find an outlet & a place for me to park while charging. In general I am welcomed. People go out of their way to help me charge. Wouldn't the efforts of officers be better spent pursuing dangerous criminals. The cost to the city for his arrest and possible prosecution is enormous compared to the crime. It also takes time from more important cases. You have a decorated officer stating he would arrest Kaveh again if the situation was the same. To notice something so small means you have a very knowledgeable officer, he just doesn't have enough dangerous criminals to catch or he just doesn't like electric cars. Good for you you have such a safe community but not for pesky law breakers like Kaveh. The reason everyone goes out of their way to help electric vehicle owners is we are cleaning up the air and everyone likes that. In general society encourages electric vehicle use. I get into the diamond/carpool lane as a solo driver as one of the incentives. The state of California gives 2,500 dollars in grant money & the US Govt. gives a 7,500 dollar tax credit. Principal Jackson & Superintendents Johnson & Brictson I urge your school system to make it policy to allow charging of electric cars and to allow charge station companies to put charging stations on school grounds(this is a free service to the facility, but not for the user) for employees and the public to use. This way it will be paid for and not a "crime". Common sense should be used in a situation like this. Please give Kaveh permission retroactively and stop the city from making work for themselves and wasting the tax payers money. There is more waste in the system than 5 cents I would wager. If someone looked carefully maybe they'd find more "crime". But maybe waste and cigarette butts on the street aren't crimes.
