Actually, he was successful in  his purchase of the EV-1 drive system,
which found its way into John Wayland's Silver Streak (also known as EV2)
project. If I recall, Oat passed it to John because he was unable to locate
an inverter (ac controller) that met his desired goals. (John was able to
collaborate with the folks at Rinehart to develop a custom one).
