Company bosses are reputedly considering offering the new Mustang with a variety of environmentally-friendly drivetrain options, including a diesel, a hybrid and even a fully-electric option. Speaking to Go Auto at the launch of the new sixth-gen Mustang in Australia, Ford powertrain boss Bob Fascetti said: "We're not looking at diesel at the moment, but given where we need to go with fuel consumption we are looking at all our options. "And diesel is one of those options, along with hybrids and electric." The new Ford Mustang will already be the most economical muscle car has ever produced thanks to the inclusion of a new 2.3-litre four-cylinder engine; however, Ford has yet to reveal exactly how economical the four-pot 'Stang will be. The new Ford Mustang will go on sale in the UK in 2015.
