This is akin to a horizontal Savonius wind turbine with PV on the blades to
harvest both wind and sun.
They were very vague about power output.
There was one at a green festival near a hydrogen powered hummer.
Both abysmal fails.
PV belongs on an array, not a car.

Bruce,  you actually hit the point...

I'm pretty sure that most of this list which owns, has owned, converted or
has had something to do in a tech level with EV's are aware that, as much
roof and vehicle space you use to cover it with solar cells to get the sun's
energy; would not be enough to power one commute day of any conventional
electric vehicle. Unless those experimental vehicles such as Aurora,
Tonatiuh, etc.. (and even some of those use a small battery)(which are not
common daily vehicles)

....so the reason of posting this is to hear comments about, What is Ford's
intention? Just to get some public adds and catch media attention?

Usually most of the people who doesn't know any about EV's and solar energy
will think that this car is a real innovation and makes them believe is
going to save the world. But what does Ford engineers say? Sales people?

I agree that best think on this is to have a fixed solar system, but also
makes sense to have some little extra power for car accessories or just
maybe when going on vacations and don't worry to let the EV plugged but find
it completely charged?

Would be great to approach them at CES and find out more.

Asunto: [EVDL] Its a pih: Ford to debut NOT-A-solar car

Its not a solar car.
It is a Ford C-Max pih with a small amount solar film on the roof.

What is the big deal? Because Ford did it?
Of course. They are paying to have their news broadcasted on the media
outlets.
Is a solar car? ... no.
Neither was my Blazer conversion EV that had two small PVs mounted in the
hood.

Its just another misleading marketing ploy, whipped up by a media feeding
frenzy after a Holiday quiet spell.

With my efforts to keep the evdl charter in mind, I will post this piece
later to the nabble archive. I already have plenty of links on this from
last night to wade through, as the newswires are saturated with Ford's
misleading promotion.
