The thing can even parallel park without help! ] BMW took to the stage with some pretty impressive stuff at yesterday's opening events for CES 2014, starting off strong with their latest advances in self-driving and self-parking cars. Though BMW has featured self-parking technology in some of their models before, the parking features on the BMW i3 electric car blows all that came before it out of the water. The BMW i3 will be the first car to come with fully automated push-to-park capabilities, which literally means that the car parks itself. We're talking no pedals, no steering wheel. According to BMW, the i3's self-parking system can maneuver the vehicle into a space just 22 inches longer than its own length. Currently, one of the major downsides to the automatic parking system is that it requires a visible curb to operate with precision. In addition to the handy self-parking feature, BMW also showcased their automated 6 Series and 2 Series models, which drove around without human assistance, performing a variety of tricks and maneuvers to show us just how far they have come with this whole 'Ultimate Driving Machine' thing that they've been pushing. Needless to say, there's a reason that they didn't show us these same displays on a busy highway; alone on a track is a much different situation than the intricate networks of high-traffic roads that we use each day.
