>I have a Manzanita Micro PFC20 charger.? According to the manual (and
searching prior posts) this charger can function with a DC input.
Specifically I want to charge a 48V pack from a 148V pack
Has any actually used this charger with a DC input?,<

I've had mixed luck doing this but I often find I need to drain down a
pack and watch the batteries as they drain which is hard to do while
driving . So I'll charge another car's pack using one of my Manzanita
chargers and power it off the cars battery that I want to watch. Some
do's and don't s : Always start the charger with the current knob on
OFF ( don't plug in with ON and current turned up ) . The charger
won't current limit well when running off dc so if you don't want full
charger amps going into or coming out of your pack, you could have a
problem. Don't unplug either pack while charger is running . Don't
turn OFF the charger with a breaker without turning current knob OFF
. Might be best not to use the breaker at all as its not really rated
for DC , but as long as the current knob is turned OFF I have not had
a problem this way . One of the things I like about Riches Manzanita
charger is that I can use it to drain one pack into another .. but one
must turn the current knob down before any power is applied . Don't
try to charge the 12v battery in the same car off it's traction pack
as there may be some current leakage from traction pack to frame .

I'd be interested to hear what Rich say about it ,,, I wouldn't loan
my PFC to somebody for doing this but I do do it often myself and I
still have one of his older models ( the one with the ears added on )
.
