Although Tesla has not released any teasers of the new Model E, it's rumored that the sedan will be unveiled at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show. Theophilus Chin had this to say about his renderings, “I referred heavily from the Pininfarina-design Tata Pr1ma concept. I’ve lowered and stretched the Pr1ma so to make it look sleeker and meaner. I still think looks a bit too tall.” The Model E sedan is going to be smaller than the current Model S with a much more attainable starting price around $40,000. If Tesla can bring it to market with a price tag under $50k and a driving range around 200 miles, it's predicted that the Model E will make Tesla a household name. Right now the Model S sedan is selling like hot cakes, but with a price tag starting at $70k, it's far out of reach of most buyers. Before the Model E arrives sometime in 2016 or 2017, Tesla is going to release the Model X crossover, which borrows its platform from the Model S sedan. The Model X will cost slightly more than the Model S, but will come standard with all-wheel-drive and the unique Falcon Wing doors from the concept.
