I sent an email to the project manager Dr. Paul Gaynor. His response is below. The donor vehicle is a large heavy 4 wheel drive flat bed truck http://www.toyota.com.au/landcruiser-70-series Until their project's web or facebook page is up we won't know if it is a single, not a double cab model. Their 30kWh Li-ion pack is 125% of a Nissan Leaf EV's battery pack. Using the Leaf EV's quoted recharge time of 8 to 10 hours @L2-3kW off a 240VAC 20Amp source, for overnight charging, their 31kWhr pack will require a larger than 3kW charger and outlet/electrical source to achieve overnight charging. More on this as I find out. {brucedp.150m.com} -------------------------------------------- On Sun, 3/9/14, Paul Gaynor <[email protected]> wrote: ... Project page will be available shortly - we are holding off for now until the high country station involved has completed a resource consent application. Donor vehicle is a 2003 Toyota 70-series flat-deck Land Cruiser. Yes it is 4-wheel drive (will be using the standard vehicle transmission). Will keep specific drive-train details to ourselves just for now, but we have been dealing with a US company for drive componentry. Aiming for a nominal maximum "continuous" power of around 140kW (200 hp) - of course peak power will be higher than this. Battery pack will be LiFePO4 chemistry, and around 30kWh. Regen braking will be utilized, so range will be somewhat variable depending on terrain - looking for the vehicle to last a full day under normal use (obviously not in motion for the whole day). Intention is for overnight charging, but does not exclude day-time top-up if near charging point. ... - -- View this message in context: http://electric-vehicle-discussion-list.413529.n4.nabble.com/EVLN-UofCanterbury-nz-conversion-of-4wd-farm-vehicle-to-electric-tp4668355p4668359.html Sent from the Electric Vehicle Discussion List mailing list archive at Nabble.com. _______________________________________________ UNSUBSCRIBE: http://www.evdl.org/help/index.html#usub http://lists.evdl.org/listinfo.cgi/ev-evdl.org For EV drag racing discussion, please use NEDRA (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/NEDRA)
