> According to Telegram, the rebate "will apply to new vehicles only"
Bah, humbug. Support the creation of shiny new things, instead of the rehabilitation of things with lots of life left in them. Until we deal with the legacy fleet, we aren't really helping things too much. Due to perceived or real range issues, most people will *not* replace a petro-car with an electric one; they'll *supplement* the petro-car. A better rebate might be one that required the trade-in of a petro-car. Yea, it's a tiny step in the right direction, but until I see incentives for conversions, or other ways of retiring the existing petro-car fleet, I can only feel bittersweet over such developments. :::: A low-energy policy allows for a wide choice of lifestyles and cultures. If, on the other hand, a society opts for high energy consumption, its social relations must be dictated by technocracy and will be equally degrading whether labeled capitalist or socialist. -- Ivan Illich :::: Jan Steinman, EcoReality Co-op :::: _______________________________________________ UNSUBSCRIBE: http://www.evdl.org/help/index.html#usub http://lists.evdl.org/listinfo.cgi/ev-evdl.org For EV drag racing discussion, please use NEDRA (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/NEDRA)
