Speaking of Volta... My wife and I were in Oahu last week and decided to rent a Leaf to see what they were like. We wanted to drive to the north shore and back to Honolulu, so I found a charging Volta station in Kailua. Plugged in the car and the "connected/charging" light was lit on the Volta. Looked at the Leaf dash and saw that the little green plugged-in icon was lit. Went to the beach, came back in two hours expecting just about a full charge--but the car hadn't charged at all. So we dropped our plans for the north shore, drove around the area for a while, then came back to the Volta station and plugged in again for about 1/2 hour. This time, the car took the charge just fine.
So any Leaf owners on the list: what did I do wrong the first time?
