Some of you may find the comments of Charles Steinmetz, the originator of a lot of fundamental AC theory, about the advantages and disadvantages of electric vs. gasoline powered vehicles interesting:
http://www.ieeeghn.org/wiki/images/d/d4/Steinmetz-Elec_Auto.pdf I can't cut and paste here as it's a scanned pdf of his original type written document. In the same paper he goes into using a battery to excite the windings of a series/shunt motor to add regenerative braking and get a better power curve. His life story is pretty interesting also: http://www.ieeeghn.org/wiki/images/f/f9/Steinmetz_-_the_story_of_steinmetz.pdf http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charles_Proteus_Steinmetz He wrote early texts for electrical engineering principles and started the first EE college curriculum in the US at Union College in upstate NY but is not generally as well known as his contemporaries: Edison, Tesla, and Einstein. -- View this message in context: http://electric-vehicle-discussion-list.413529.n4.nabble.com/Comparison-of-ICE-and-EV-1920-tp4669334.html Sent from the Electric Vehicle Discussion List mailing list archive at Nabble.com. _______________________________________________ UNSUBSCRIBE: http://www.evdl.org/help/index.html#usub http://lists.evdl.org/listinfo.cgi/ev-evdl.org For EV drag racing discussion, please use NEDRA (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/NEDRA)
