How are you gonna recapture energy if you drive like a maniac?

The manufacturer of small 125- to 250-cc two-stroke cafe racer motorcycles is based in Spain and has been purchased by a group looking to bring a fully-electric motorcycle to market. The new Bultaco Rapitán features a lithium ion battery pack and an electric motor that is supposed to have an approximate range of 87 miles and a recharge time of three to five hours. Nothing was said about whether that recharge time was to be had on a standard (220VAC) plug or an SAEJ1772 charger port. Bultaco CEO and Cofounder Juan Manuel Vinós said, “What began as a thesis project has become a company with the size and solidity needed to create a new generation of Bultaco motorcycles.” Indeed it is large undertaking to create your own in-house electric propulsion system. According to Bultaco, the Bultaco Drive Train System (DTS), unlike other electrical two-wheeled vehicles, enables the maximum energy performance to be yielded from regenerative braking. This is possible because the technology applied to the chassis maximizes the rear wheels’ adherence during braking, which enables a considerable electrical braking torque to be applied. The only thing that doesn’t jibe there is when you hit the brakes on a motorcycle (or car) hard, all of the weight shifts towards the front wheels. How are you gonna recapture energy if you are driving like a maniac? Oh yeah, you would probably be on a Gixxer or ‘Busa anyway.
