Leading scientist, Keith Barnham, claims that petrol stations will die out
giving way to a new era of solar powered electric cars charged from home.

Keith Barnham, Professor of Physics at Imperial College, is adamant that the
rapid rate of improvement in solar technology will soon topple the current
unsustainable energy system in the UK and force a switch to renewable
sources.

This would, in turn, start deconstructing the traditional way people fuel
their cars. Solar technology, Professor Barnham insists, is now powerful
enough to be the sole source of electricity for charging an electric car.

He says, "A typical (solar panel) system will generate enough electricity
for typical mileage in a year".

Apart from the environmental attractions of using renewables to fuel our
cars, it will also operate completely free of charge. This is the main
reason scientists believe the switch is inevitable; people are not likely to
continue paying for fuel when they can get it for free.

Professor Barnham is a leading researcher and developer of silicon solar
cells and, for a while, his team held the world record for the most
efficient version of this rapidly improving technology. He is also a key
advocate of renewable sources relentlessly fighting against propagandists
for fossil fuels and nuclear power.

Keith Barnham’s vision extends further than just solar panels. Extensive
research is nearing an artificial photosynthesis process that could store
solar energy in biomass. This would add the further benefit of realigning
the CO2 balance, capturing it to create energy rather than hide it
underground.

Barnham encourages the UK to follow Germany and many of the Scandinavian
countries in their climb towards a national grid powered by 100% renewable
energy sources. If the UK invested in renewables and endeavored to make the
switch, energy bills could be reduced by more than 20%.

Professor Barnham concludes, "We need to spread the word that we have got
the technology already, we just need to use it."
