Well said.  It's about time someone realized that this is where the 
automobile industry is stuck.

The modern ICEV is what the phono cartridge was in 1984 - an obsolete 
technology that's been refined until it performs 'way beyond what anyone 
would ever have expected of it.  It is a dead alley.  It only seems modern.
