In my experience converting a VW or similar car, when using a AC motor, best
advice is to keep the tranny and go clutch less using 3rd gear only.
Shifting can still be accomplished as long as you don't hurry with the shift
and the synchromesh is in good shape. Also, best to put the regeneration on
the brake pedal and not the accelerator during pedal off. This setup works
real good and mimics a production car.
