Offering drivers free gasoline to tempt them into going electric seems a strange tactic, but the prospect of $3,800 savings annually seems to hit the spot. Electricity isn’t free, of course, but it’s far cheaper per mile than fossil fuels and rates are often fixed. Based on 646,844,585 miles driven by US LEAF owners, Nissan estimates that more than $94 million has been saved at the pumps. Impressive.
