DOK-ING LOOX

If you work in the mining, firefighting or military industry, you might have
heard about DOK-ING, the Croatian company that makes remotely controlled
firefighting robotic vehicles, mining tools and even anti-mine tracked
vehicles. But the company also wants to enter the automotive world with this
little electric car called the Loox.

The concept is actually the second EV they made, with the first one being
called the XD... yeah, almost like the Scion xD, but very different. And
this new one also comes in an open top version. It simply looks like a cute
dwarf Lamborghini and it comes with impressive tech stats for a tiny city
car.

For starters, it’s a three seater, adopting the McLaren F1’s layout with the
driver seating in the center while the two passengers sit in the back on
each side. The doors are big enough for everyone to access or exit the
cockpit and they also open upwards, which is nice when you have to park in
tight spaces like a crowded supermarket parking lot.

Looks rather cute, but this mini isn’t a slouch. Power comes from a 32 kWh
Lithium-Iron-Phosphate battery pack that feeds two or four 45 kW (61 HP)
electric motors controlled by an electronic system.

And because the Loox’ chassis is made out of aluminum and the body is carbon
fiber, it can reach 100 km/h (62 mph) in 7.7 seconds. Kinda like a VW
Scirocco GT.

However, if you’re gentle with the throttle, the electrons juice will last
for over 200 km (124 miles). Recharging the batteries takes between 3 to 8
hours depending on the source.

OK, so it’s cool, but how much does it cost? Well, when it will reach the
market it is expected to be around €30,000, which is about $35,000 at
current exchange rates ...

GENERAL INFORMATION
Designed as a luxury city car, LOOX is at the same time built for more
adventurous delight in driving and speed. DOKING space Frame (DSF) aluminum
chassis with crashworthiness design and high torsion stiffness provides
safety and stability. Battery space in the middle of the chassis and 2 or 4
electric motors symmetrically integrated in the front and rear sections
ensure low center of gravity and ideal ration of mass which improves sport
driving performance.

A contender when it comes to choosing luxury, the new LOOX challenges the
roads with fine curves, elegant wheels and stunning Y designed seating
interior. It fulfills the dream of driving, or better yet, being driven, in
a unique frame and body, while at the same time having final assembly
details handcrafted in premium materials, completed to each customers'
individual demands.

In designing and manufacturing LOOX, DOK-ING used it vast experience as a
global leader in production of remotely controlled, diesel, hybrid, and
electric powered vehicles of different purpose. The outstanding history of
innovation was a foundation of present production of demining, firefighting
and underground mining vehicles, being at the same time very concrete and
trustworthy basis for the technological and technical solutions and safety
features for the electric car.
