Bill, I am not sure how the potbox is monitored on a Curtis - my own motor controller sends a voltage through a resistor to the potbox (actually: a variable resistor) and measures the voltage, then gives an output in relation to the input voltage. So, in theory you can attach the potbox to both Curtis controllers and they should read the same voltage unless they do something else than reading the input voltage. You may need to modify the potbox to have 2.5k instead of 5k Ohm resistance (add a 4.7k resistor across the two potbox wires). That would save you a headache and cost of ganging two potboxes together. You can easily try this on the bench using two lightbulbs as load and wire both controllers to the same potbox and see if this works as expected.
In case you have an AWD vehicle, you could set up each motor to drive one axle independently. Success! Unplanned, I've ended up having two 8-inch ADC motors and two Curtis motor controllers. Seems a shame to let one set go to waste, so I was wondering what the complications would be with the following setup: The two motors connected physically in parallel via pulleys and ribbed-belt Two pot boxes physically ganged together, one for each controller One controller connected to each motor Thanks, Bill _______________________________________________ UNSUBSCRIBE: http://www.evdl.org/help/index.html#usub http://lists.evdl.org/listinfo.cgi/ev-evdl.org For EV drag racing discussion, please use NEDRA (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/NEDRA) _______________________________________________ UNSUBSCRIBE: http://www.evdl.org/help/index.html#usub http://lists.evdl.org/listinfo.cgi/ev-evdl.org For EV drag racing discussion, please use NEDRA (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/NEDRA)
