Electric taxi, anyone? It may be far from the metropole, but a taxi company in rural South West England is already saving money by using electric cabs. About 18 months ago, C&C Taxis – a company operating in St. Austell – purchased a Nissan LEAF electric car, and was so satisfied that it’s now operating five more, plus a Nissan e-NV200 electric van. The company got turned on to electric cars through Nissan’s e4Business program, which promotes the use of electric vehicles among small- and medium-sized businesses in Europe. C&C claims each LEAF or e-NV200 taxi saves 8,500 pounds (about $12,540) per year over a comparable internal-combustion taxi in fuel costs alone. Drivers also say the typical 10-hour shift is less tiresome in an electric vehicle. Maybe it’s the smooth, silent running. To support its electric fleet, C&C installed two DC fast-charging stations locally, one at its office, and another at a nearby industrial park. These stations can recharge a LEAF or e-NV200 battery pack (their powertrains are identical) to 80 percent capacity in 30 minutes, which helps keep cabs on the road – and making money – longer. One of the LEAF taxis reportedly racked up 77,000 miles in 12 months of service. If nothing else, that should make for a good durability test. Several other taxi operators have experimented with electric cars, although mass adoption is probably still a few years away. Tesla Model S sedans are used as taxis in Norway and the Netherlands, as well as by a limo company in Chicago. There are also a handful of Nissan LEAF taxis operating in several world cities, and the Japanese carmaker is pitching the e-NV200 van [© ecomento.com] ... http://electric-vehicle-discussion-list.413529.n4.nabble.com/template/NamlServlet.jtp?macro=search_page&node=413529&query=subject%3Aevln+subject%3A%28e-NV200+OR+eNV200%29+NOT+subject%3Are&days=0&sort=date Read more e-NV200 EVLN items on evdl For EVLN posts use: http://evdl.org/evln/ http://electric-vehicle-discussion-list.413529.n4.nabble.com/template/NamlServlet.jtp?macro=search_page&node=413529&query=subject%3Aevln+NOT+subject%3Are&days=0&sort=date https://transportevolved.com/2015/03/17/nissan-keeps-blade-glider-electric-sports-car-production-plans-on-ice-despite-original-plans-for-2017-production/ Nissan BladeGlider Sports EV not planned for Production http://cleantechnica.com/2015/03/16/40-cut-uk-oil-imports-evs/ 40% Cut In UK Oil Imports From EVs http://www.news1130.com/2015/03/16/bcs-scrap-it-program-offering-3000-rebate-to-trade-in-for-a-new-electric-car/ BC.ca ’s ‘Scrap-It’ program offering $3k trade-in rebate for new EV You must be able to prove you’ve owned and insured the trade-in for six months http://www.heraldsun.com.au/leader/west/free-electric-car-charging-station-installed-at-the-point-cook-town-centre/story-fngnvmj7-1227261534621 Free EVSE installed at the Point Cook Town Centre Melbourne.au http://resources1.news.com.au/images/2015/03/13/1227261/534569-07b9d73a-c5f9-11e4-8d4b-fc1ca07a90de.jpg + EVLN: $82.75/month Fiat 500e EV CA Lease Deal Spikes Interest {brucedp.150m.com} -- View this message in context: http://electric-vehicle-discussion-list.413529.n4.nabble.com/EVLN-Rural-UK-taxi-company-switched-to-Nissan-eNV200-EV-saved-v-tp4674425.html Sent from the Electric Vehicle Discussion List mailing list archive at Nabble.com. _______________________________________________ UNSUBSCRIBE: http://www.evdl.org/help/index.html#usub http://lists.evdl.org/listinfo.cgi/ev-evdl.org For EV drag racing discussion, please use NEDRA (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/NEDRA)
