That gives us the privilege of relentlessly speculating until we get some real information. The latest rendition of this speculation considers the possibility that the 2017 Nissan LEAF could take some design cues from the Sway Concept that was shown at Geneva this year. The current LEAF has been around since 2010 with little changing besides a slight boost in range and some added options. Its bubbly, insect-like looks are seemingly appropriate for its name and for the attraction of early EV adopters at the time, but now that it has been established as a serious alternative to gas-powered urban commuting, it might be time to make it a little better looking. This is backed up by the fact that Nissan’s new V-shaped “corporate grille” shown on this concept is making its way to redesigned models like the 2015 Murano and 2016 Maxima, so it’s pretty safe to assume that the LEAF will get a variation of this as well. The crisp body lines of the Sway Concept would go a long way towards attracting new buyers who don’t want to be seen driving such a bubbly and obviously electric vehicle and would prefer a more refined, conventional appearance.
