I figured Electrric Airplanes were a long way off.
But last week’s EV Aircraft conference revealed that big companies are going into production! They found a niche. Training Airccraft! They fly for one hour training sessions, can swap batteries in 2 minutes, and can fly all day long that way. Wow, why Didn’t I think of that. Its similar to conventional Wisdom. People think that an EV is useless until it can go 300 miles and cost less than a Versa. When in fact, only say 5% of our driving need is 300 miles… Also, the pilots around here say the typical plane uses MAX power during climb and then drops back to only 20% power to maintain economical cruise. This means, a HYBRID aircraft can be built with only 25% as much of a gas engine while using electric to climb. What will they think of next?!
