City runaround: The Mr Bean star stands next to his electric BMW i3, which
costs £30,000 and reaches 93mph

- With top speed of 93mph it's a stark contrast to F1, that can reach 240mph

- He sold the supercar earlier this year - 18 years after he paid £634,000
for it

- Economical runaround could save on insurance and the congestion charge

After pocketing £8million from the sale of his beloved McLaren F1, you might
have expected Rowan Atkinson to splash out on another supercar.

But the Mr Bean actor appears to have opted for something a bit more
economical – and eco-friendly.

The comedian has been seen in an electric BMW i3, which costs £30,000 and
has a top speed of 93mph.

It is in stark contrast to his prized F1, one of only 64 in the world, which
was capable of reaching a thrilling 240mph.

The actor sold the supercar earlier this year, 18 years after he paid
£634,000 for it.

However, while the sought after sports car completed less than 10 miles to
the gallon, his new runaround has a range of up to 100 miles on a full
charge.

It will also save the Blackadder star a significant sum on his insurance
bill. The annual cost to insure his F1, which he once crashed into a tree in
2011, was said to be around £60,000.

In 2013 he successfully claimed £910,000 from his insurers to fix the
supercar – the highest repair bill ever recorded in Britain.

just 64 made in the world and it has a top speed of 240mph

His BMW however, is so cost effective that it is even exempt from the
£11.50-a-day London Congestion Zone charge because it is considered so
environmentally friendly.

It is charged using public power points or even standard plug sockets, and
takes four hours to achieve a full charge from empty.

Atkinson, said to be worth £71million, owns an impressive collection that
includes a Honda NSX, a Jaguar Mk7, an Aston Martin DB2, a vintage Ford
Falcon, a 1939 BMW 328 and a Rolls-Royce Phantom Coupe.

Earlier this month it was revealed that the 60-year-old comic actor is
selling his former family home in Oxfordshire following the break-up of his
24-year marriage to wife Sunetra, 53, in February last year.

He is now dating comedian Louise Ford, 32, and bought a £4.65million house
in North London last September.

The house sale has fuelled speculation that Rowan could be heading for a
costly divorce from Sunetra, with whom he has two children, Ben, 21, and
Lily, 19.

Atkinson first met his wife in the late 1980s, when she was working as a BBC
make-up artist, and they wed in 1990.

The couple were building an £11 million dream home elsewhere in Oxfordshire
when they split last year.

Atkinson met stand-up comic Ford - star of Sky sitcom Chickens - in 2003
when they starred together in the West End play Quartermaine’s Terms.
