It seems like everyone and their mother want a Tesla P85D or P90D now. Maybe
I just hang out too much on Tesla and EV forums and sites, but it’s clear
there are thousands if not millions of people who have caught Tesla fever.
As a fun reflection of this, I share with you the Toyota Corolla P85D:

Sadly, that’s probably an indication that someone had their P85D decal
stolen, and one user on the TMC forum thread [
http://www.teslamotorsclub.com/showthread.php/52701-Owners-putting-a-higher-trim-badge-on-is-one-thing-but-this-is-pretty-funny
] where I found this noted that his decal was stolen.

But… it’s still quite funny, no?

With Toyota’s absurd (or not so absurd) reluctance to get into the electric
vehicle game, it will likely be a long time before you can get a Toyota with
anywhere near the performance of a P85D, but here’s to hoping.

This comment from “Paul” [

] on one of those stories linked above captures the general Toyota story
well enough, imho: “Toyota seem to have adopted their own ludicrous mode
when it comes to EVs. They led the way with hybrids, then ignored their own
customers who were showing the way as independent companies sprang up for
converting the Prius to a plug-in. They were late to the party and are only
now starting to build a plug-in with useful range.”
