View detailed : https://goo.gl/tXmIkD ] Earlier I wrote about some design and concept changes that could be part of the 2016 or 2017 Nissan Leaf. While many people do not appreciate the current Nissan Leaf design, there are those that appreciate the design elements like the headlights that have a very distinct reason for looking the way they look. Either way, whether you love the Nissan Leaf’s current design or not, there have been some concept visions of found online that show some interesting ideas as to what the Nissan Leaf could become. My favorite of the bunch shown in the video ... is the black version. The bumper cover has been redesigned to have more of a pronounced line down to the charge point cover. This gives the nose what appears to be a smile across it when compared to the current version. Another interesting change is the L.E.D. fog lights on the lower front bumper. Both my 2013 Ford C-Max Energi and 2013 Nissan Leaf each have round fog lights in this position. On the Nissan Leaf concept this area has moved away from the circular light to a vertical line of LEDs. This gives it a more modern feel than the more traditional round fog light displays. The main headlights on this version appear to be unchanged as they are designed to push air around the side mirrors to help reduce wind noise. The wind noise was significant to the engineers when designing the Nissan Leaf so they redesigned the headlights to help eliminate the wind noise from the side mirrors. Additionally, since the Nissan Leaf makes almost no noise at all, an annoying wind noise from the side mirrors really would detract from the EV experience. As reported earlier the new Nissan Leaf should be approaching a much higher anticipated electric vehicle range and that has already been reported. 12,383 Nissan Leafs have been sold this year in the USA out of 72,270 as of the end of August.
