(Credit: AP) The recall includes approximately 421,000 model year 2009- 2012 Rav4s and 2,500 model year 2012- 2014 Rav4 EV electric sport utility vehicles, the company said. Toyota says that over time, water can corrode the wiper link joint, which connects the all-important wiper motor to the wiper link. Service technicians will replace the entire water channel, wiper link and wiper-motor crank arm with revised components to prevent future corrosion and failures. If this happens mid-drive, the sudden loss of visibility due to the broken wiper might increase the risk of a crash. This operation will be performed free of charge to the owners. The new recall will be affecting a total of 423,500 units of the Toyota RAV4. Toyota has announced a massive recall of some 430,000 Toyota RAV4 crossovers - both gas-powered and EV models.
