But the battery for an electric car is quite a bit more complex than that. Nissan is introducing an all new 30 kWh battery in the SV and SL models of its 2016 LEAF. The new Nissan LEAF battery will extend the range of the car from 84 miles to 107 miles. It will come with a longer warranty (100,000 miles) and new battery cell configuration. While its dimensions are identical to the older 24 kWh battery, the two cannot be interchanged because the software that manages each battery is different.
