It sure sounds impossible, without a "trick" of some sort. For example, maybe the roof is covered in PV panels and they will make the trip at 10 mph. Or it's a "racing shell" that looks like a bus but only weighs 10% of what a real bus weighs. Or it's literally stuffed clear full of some unobtainium superbattery.
Nevertheless, 1000 miles on a single charge *is* possible. It's been done a few times, with special vehicles on closed tracks at very low speeds. Here's the latest example:
