China to pass U.S. as annual EV sales leader

China is forecast to become the largestmarket for electric vehicles this year
with sales falling in a range of 220K to 250K vehicles, according to data from
the China Automobile Manufacturers Association.
EV sales in China were up 290% to 171,415 units through the end of October to
blast past the level of EV sales in the U.S.
Chinese automakers have increased their focus on hybrid and electric vehicles
in order to stay on track with long-term government-directed fuel economy
expectations.
